windows xp network problems

I am trying to connect a small home network consisting of 4 desktops and 1
laptop, two of the desktops are Home xp sp1, the other two desktops are pro
sp2, and laptop is home sp2(brand new dell) The problem I am having is I can
not see the workgroup on my laptop with the firewall on or off. And on the
desktops I can see all computers but cannot to any on the workgroup with the
firewall on or off. In the past I have had all working and connecting with
no problems. I can also use my networked printer from any but the laptop. I
have looked at many site and have trying different combination and even
renameed all workgrouped computers. Any help would be great. My main goal is
to network all together as before with a wired router and cable modeum. I am
suspecting it has something to do with sp2.
