Windows XP keeps rebooting on its own

I purchased an upgrade from ME to XP just last month. Had problems and had
Best Buy re-format 3 weeks later. Then a week and a half ago I got this
message from Spy Sweeper about accepting AutoKernal. I accepted and my PC
went haywire,.....kept rebooting on its own. Best Buy suggested I reformat so
I did. Today I got the notice through Spy Sweeper again about AutoKernal so
this time I didn't accept....also did some Windows XP updates. Pc worked
fine for 10 minutes then froze. I shut it off and now it just keeps rebooting
itself....like its stuck in a loop. It'll go up to the black screen with the
Windows icon on it, then shut off and start up all over again unluess I shut
it off completely.

I'm at my wits end and wish I could return XP to get my ME back as it seems
like I have to re-format as often as when I had ME. What am I doing wrong?
Why is this happening? What is AutoKernal? Any suggestions as to how to get
this PITA problems solved once and for all?

I set up my husband laptop (XP) as well as the printer on the wireless
network and they both work just fine....no problems.

TIA!

Here is an article from the MSKB that might solve your problem.
After you complete the process of upgrading from Microsoft Windows 98 or
Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) to Microsoft Windows XP, and then
you restart your computer, your computer may reach the Windows XP startup
screen, shut down, and begin the restart process again. The startup process
never completes, and your computer remains stuck in a restart loop.
