Windows XP is not booting up. I press the power button to boot up my
computer and it does not boot up. It just hangs there. It does not
show the normal boot process.
Hi, Eve. This really isn't quite enough information to get focused help.
At what point does the boot process stop? Or do you push the power
button and nothing at all happens? If the latter, then your power
supply has died. Replace it.
If you'd like more help, post back with a lot more detail such as:
1. Description of your computer - specs, age, etc.
2. What changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't.
3. A really exact description of what happens when you press the power
button. If the machine makes any noises - particularly beeps - pay
attention to them and tell us what they were; i.e., three long beeps or
two short one long, etc. If you get partway to Windows and get an error
message, tell us the exact text of the error message.
If this all seems like too much, then take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA). There is
no shame in doing this.
