Windows XP install error

I am trying to load XP on my machine that has 4 partitions. Only one has data on it, and i am loading xp on G: drive. When i startup from cd, i choose to install xp. next, it installs some stuff and reboots. upon reboot, after the bootup says: "press any key to boot from CD" (i leave it alone to let windows finish booting and installation) I get the error: "Error loading operating system."
I have tried fixboot, fixmbr, fdisk /mbr, reformatting, reinstalling the bios of the computer to no avail. I keep getting this error. I feel that there is something wrong with the boot record, but cannot seem to clear it. any suggestions? Thanks.

Tony, use Fdisk to delete all the partitions except the one with Data on
it. Create new ones, then try
installing XP on barebones. Just Monitor, Graphics card, hard drive and
Memory. If it's still happening
check your Ram.
