Windows XP Home - master Backup

David

On 060903 I did a master backup, preinstalled with a wide
range of other systems when I bought the computer (PB).
Just as well! A few days later my system collapsed and
after a few days trying to sort it with System Restore
etc I had to do the Recovery programme and start from
square one. Since then I have tried to do a full backup
but cannot find a Master Backup or System Backup - it
should have been in the master backup discs. Any ideas
on how I can find these programmes? They must surely be
somewhere! Any ideas welcome.

You have to install it:

If you have a rescue disk the valueadded folder may be on
it or your XP Disk, Mine was on disk #2

Insert the XP or Rescue CD, and run NTBACKUP.MSI program
from the folder D:\valueadd\msft\ntbackup

You can get a copy here;

In XP Home the ASR Floppy Disk does not work . It will NOT
backup to a CD. You can bacu up to
a folde on your hard drive then burn it to a CD

here is how to use it;

Still boggles my mind why Microsoft did not support ASR
in Windows XP Home, if it is part of NT backup utility. I
hope they don't make a stupid mistake like this with
Longhorn. Even home users need full backup software. Not
just partial software, with parts that don't work.
