Windows XP Home Edition

Is Windows XP Home Edition adequate for surfing the Internet?

What would be the major difference, as far as Internet surfing is concerned,
between Windows XP Home and Pro?

Absolutely nothing.

Certainly.

None at all.

XP Professional and XP Home are exactly the same in all respects, except
that Professional has a few features (mostly related to networking and
security) missing from Home. For most (but not all) home users, even those
with a home network, these features aren't needed, would never be used, and
buying Professional instead of Home is a waste of money.

Also note one other point not mentioned on any of those sites: Professional
allows ten concurrent network connections, and Home only five.

None, whatsoever.

The WinXP Home and WinXP Pro editions are _identical_ when it comes
to performance, stability, and device driver and software application
compatibility, but are intended to meet different functionality,
networking, security, and ease-of-use needs, in different environments.
The most significant differences are that WinXP Pro allows up to 10
simultaneous inbound network connections while WinXP Home only allows
only 5, WinXP Pro is designed to join a Microsoft domain while WinXP
Home cannot, and only WinXP Pro supports file encryption and IIS. (Oh,
and WinXP Pro usually costs roughly $100 USD more than WinXP Home.)

For what reason would the system.ini files keep the computer from starting? I
have Windows XP as my OS and I would like to know about my system.ini files.
Why is it that they could keep my computer from starting? I have searched
from information on this and I have not found anything! Please respond to my
question so I can start my computer!

The reason you have not had a reply is that you hijacked a thread with a
completely different question. IF you see this, which I doubt, and you want
some answers then please post in a new thread.

thankyou.

It wouldn't. In WinXP, the SYSTEM.INI file has absolutely nothing to
do with the functioning, much less the booting, of the operating system.
It exists only because some older, legacy applications expect to find
it when they're installed.

You found nothing because the SYSTEM.INI file cannot have the affect
you're claiming. What makes you think that this is the source of your
problem?

Please start your own thread, with an appropriate subject line and some
specific information about the problem you're experiencing, and I'm
confident someone will be able to help.
