Windows XP Home Edition - Disk/Folder properties

J

Just D.

All,

For those who has Windows XP Home Edition... I got XP Pro installed and
can't check that, sorry.

What tabs do you see in the drive/folder properties? I'm looking for the
tab - Security.

My friend got a problem installing a new hard drive. He configured it under
administrator, formatted into NTFS, finally moved all files from the old
disk. At last he can read/write but all other users of this machine have
this new disk as R/O. They can't delete/write/etc. When he opens the
properties of the disk he can't find the Security tab to correct the
permissions. What's going on? And how can we fix that?

Thanks,

Just D.

I use to have XP Home but now Pro, With XP Home you have to boot into Safe Mode
1) As windows is loading up press F8 repeatedly until the Windows advanced screen comes up.
2) Select safe mode (the version of windows you want to use click XP wait until it loads the welcome
screen.
Log on as Administrator there to access the security settings.
