I backed up my hard drive on an external drive with windows backup and now I
would like to get some files off of that since I had to reformat my hard
drive after the backup. Then I installed Windows XP Professional and now I
can not get my backup info back and the extention is : backup.bkf. What can I
do?

What happens when you try? Error messages? If so post verbatim.

What I finally did that I had not done before was to click on the backup
on
the external drive and then it cataloged it and returned it back to the
hard
drive under another name that was given to the computer before it was
reformated. It called it Gateway user since it was a Gateway computer.
What
was confussing about what it asked was it kept asking is this the drive to
back up which it was and I kept thinking it was asking to back up the
external and what it really was saying are these the files to restore to
you
computer. But all is fine now and I thank you for you reply.

Great, Willie, I'm glad you got it sorted out and thanks for posting back
the resolution.
