Windows XP Hanging on start up

R

Ryan Cook

I'm running Windows XP Home SP1 on an HP Pavilion ze5300.

Everytime I start up WinXP goes through it's usual motions.
I get to the WinXP Home Edition screen with the green
status loader, however, when I get to the next screen that
shows the WinXP logo and loads the machine's users to
select to log on, it never displays users or logs on. It
stops at the WinXP logo and never does anything after that.
The pointer still moves around freely.

I have tried starting in safe mode but get the same result.

Any advice is appreciated.
