Windows XP Freezing

I am running Win XP on a high end machine (3 Ghz CPU, 1
Ghz RAM, Radeon 9800 Pro Vid Card, 2 X 80 Ghz SATA HDD
configuration) etc.

Problem: When I boot up it takes me to the Desktop as
normal. When I click on an icon or the start menu etc
there are delays. It can take up to 2 mins to load the
particular app that I have chosen. When it is looking
like it is starting to load the app the mouse/PC freezes
and I am forced to reboot. This can happen for two or
three boots. Generally it works after this but is very
unstable. It is not unusual for the PC to crash whilst
playing a game such as MOHAA.

Please help! Thanks in advance.

Rich,

I have a 480 W Thermaltake Power supply. Seems to be OK.
As for the virus...what a great idea.

Mate, thanks for the advice and sites. Keep you posted.

Kento.
