Windows XP freezes while shutting down

Whenever I try to shut down my computer the screen freezes when it hits the
windows shutting down screen. I thought I read a bulliten aprox a year ago
but I can't find it now. Can anyone help me? My computer does not try to
restart, it just freezes up. Thanks Joe DuBois
