WINDOWS XP FAILURE

I am experiencing problems with windows xp. At first my
hard drive would lock up and the hard drive operating
light would be lighted permanently. Then my hard drive
would activate&deactivate abruptly and constantly before a
reboot. I would restart the system and it might go back
to normal. I say might because this has happened several
times. Sometimes I would have to reformat and do a full
install because the recovery consol wouldn't cut the
mustard. Again I've had to do this several times. My
last occurence symptoms began with the hard drive
activating and deactivating and the locked. I rebooted
and it began to load win xp and a quick blue screen would
flash(unable to read) and the system would reboot. It
brought me to the startup screen with options and none
would work including safe mode or last known good
configuration. I then started from the win xp cd and
tried to do a recovery. I used chkdsk /p it said it fixed
errors and then i exited and it rebooted. Now i get the
following: "Windows could not start because of an error in
the software. Please report this problem as: load needed
DLLs for kernel." What does this mean and what is the
root of the problem. I ruled out the hard drive(has done
this on 2 different hard drives and completed hd
diagnostics on both & they passed) and believe it to be a
driver conflict somewhere. Now if I knew how to narrow it
down I would but I don't. It doesnt occur right after I
load something. It seems to occur a day or two later. I
have to admit though it does occur after I download files
from windows update. But again it doesnt occur
immediately it happens a couple of days later. If anyone
could help me narrow it down to which driver may be
causing this I would greatly apprecite it. By the way I
don't see it as a virus either, I flash updated my BIOS
without any problems and I performed a low level format
reinstalled everything and a couple of days later my
problems began again.

You can try checking Event Viewer. Open Control Panel, open Administrative
Tools, open Event Viewer, look for errors that correspond to when the issue
occurs, double click the error, the information contained within may give a
clue as to the source of the issue.

Place the XP CD in the drive, when the setup screen appears, select "Check
System Compatibility, the report it generates might give a clue as to the
source of the issue.

Open Control Panel, open System, go to the Hardware tab, click Device
Manager, look for any red or yellow warnings, any such designation for a
device could indicate it's the source of the issue.

You can also try disabling or removing devices and their drivers one by one,
testing after each removal to see if the problem goes away. When it does,
you've found the problem device.

If you are only speculating about the virus, in other words, you haven't run
a scan with up to date antivirus software, you should run a scan.

Also, download, install and run Ad Aware:
