Windows XP driver for 5.25 inch floppy drive

I am trying to get an ancient Epson SD-600 5.25 inch floppy
drive to run with Windows XP so that I can transfer old
files to CDs. Windows tells me the device is running
properly, but I get an I/O error when I try to access a
disk. Does Windows Xp support such old drives, or is there
a good source for such?
