Windows XP caching CD's?

Hi,

From one day to another Windows XP is acting up with CD-ROM drives.
example:
I insert a CD-ROM in any of the drives, open the explorer and browse the CD.
Then replace the CD with another one. When I open the explorer again I
still see the contents of the first CD and the strangest thing of all is
that if I try to open files/documents I did open on the first CD, they
still open and I can read them or if it was an executable it runs.
The only way for Windows XP to see the CD is to right-click on the drive
and select eject and then select close tray. Then the contents are
refreshed.
I tried pressing F5 with no luck, I applied a registry 'hack' which
turns on "allways refresh" but I reverted to the original settings
because it didn't help.
I have just installed XP sp2 but still the problem is there. It happens
with all of the CD drives (CD-ROM, CD-RW and DVD).

Does anyone know what it could be and does anyone know a solution other
then reinstalling?

thanks,

Remco

See if this helps: "The AutoPlay Function Does Not Work and the
Current Media Does Not Appear in My Computer When You Insert a CD or
DVD" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=817357).
