Windows Xp boots up and then shuts down

I am running Windows XP Pro. Yesterday my computer started up
normally and then after about 30 seconds it began the windows shutdown
sequence by itself and turned off. Everytime I would restart, it
would do the same thing. I ran every virus scan, spyware, and trojan
seeking program. They all came up clean. It would stay on in safe
mode only. I finally found the problem after 5 hours of tinkering. I
have my computer hooked up to an APC backup power supply. The power
supply circuit board went bad and was shutting my windows down via the
serial cable and power management software. I unplugged the serial
cable, uninstalled the power management software and everything is
fine. I would suggest using the backup power supply but skip the
power management software.

The nice thing when you use the power management software is before the
batteries / ups shut off , the software will shut down your computer
normally ............................. Total
