windows XP automatically logging into one of the user accounts

I was facing problems with windows XP. So, I used the widows XP disk to
update install the OS, after which the system started logging into, one of
the user accounts (rohit, with administrative rights) automatically, at
startup. To rectify this, I created a new administrative account(with the
name rohit singh) and deleted the former account. Now, the system still tries
to log-in, to the previous account at startup, this time, into the classic
login prompt, with the usual, 'incorrect password' message box. On cancelling
this message box, it shows me the welcome screen for selecting the user
account. Thereafter, it functions normally. However, many a times it just
flashes the 'incorrect password' message box for a second and then shows the
'windows is starting up' page for about 15 min, before it shows me the
welcome screen.
Please advise me on, how to remove the automatic login, may be by editing
the registry, or something else.

Go to Start -> Run and enter the following in the Open box,

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
This should launch the User Account applet.
On the General page, put a check mark in the box next to "Users
of this computer must enter a user name and password to use
this computer".
Click OK.
Reboot and see if you get the desired results.

Good luck
