Windows XP and RightFax printer change default printer setting

I have workstations that are running Windows XP Professional and that use
Captaris RightFax faxing software. This works by using a standard HP
LaserJet4 printer driver that is setup to talk to the fax server.

The problem I have is that every once in a while the RightFax printer will
steal the Default Printer setting. This printer is NEVER set as default on
any of our computers. The person can use their computer for several weeks
without any problems and then for 3 or 4 days in a row the RightFax printer
will set itself as default.

This is only happening with the RightFax printer and with no other printer.
I have tried contacting Captaris with this problem but they will not talk
with us since we don't have one of their exorbitantly high price support
contracts.

Is this a problem with Windows XP? Has anyone else experienced this problem
or know how to solve it?

Thank you!
Kent

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am running RightFax version 8.

The first link you provided was for 8.5 and the second link was for hotfies
for v7.

Thanks for trying though!
