Windows Vista

I currently have Microsoft Office Student and teacher 2003 Edition. I just
bought a new computer with Windows Vista. Can I use the 2003 Edition of
Office or do I have to buy the new 2007 Edition? Help!

Hi,

I am having a big problem. I just installed Microsoft Office Professional
Edition 2003 and I am unable to associate a file type to open up with
winword. I cannot get the icon to go into recommended programs or other
programs. I need big time help. I had my MSI guy look at this & he was
unable to do anything. We did a Microsoft update and it still does not work.
We tried to drag the icon to the open with file & it still did not work.

I have updated from XP to Vista, and I'm still getting all my programs to run
like they used to. I have Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003. Is there any
reason I should upgrade to 2007? And if I do, which edition should I get?

Did you try uninstalling the whole program through Control Panel and
reinstalling? And rebooting? That usually works for me. I also check every
program for fixes for Vista.

1. Don't hijack someone else's thread.

2. You need to do your homework and figure out if you need Office 2007 and
if so, which version. We can't tell you that.

Office 2003 is compatible with Vista - only you can decide if the upgrade is
necessary yet. Notre that if you are familiar with 2003, 2007 comes as a
culture shock with a steep learning curve.

It sounds like I'm being rude but believe me, I've seen people blasted for
hijacking threads.

It has been said that office 2003 runs fine on vista i have microsoft offcie
professional edition 2003 and when i try to install it it says error, any

Is that all it says: "error"? It doesn't give you any more information than
that?

I'm running Office 2003 (well, part of it) in Vista, and had no problem
installing. If there's a problem, it will be hard to diagnose if the only
clue you're provided is "error".

Thank you Mr. Mayor for your info. I had the question about Word 2003 working
on Vista also. I have seen Word 2007 and you are correct about the "culture
shock" and "steep learning curve." Yikes! Good Day to you!
