You don't "have" to do anything. You can keep what you now use.

If you **WANT** to use Vista you buy a copy for each computer.

might try and get a multi user license for that many computers.
similar to what businesses do.

There's probably going to be some discount for multiple copies, just like it
was for XP. If I had 5 computers in house, I probably wouldn't care about
that, but that's just me :)

BTW Happy New Year!

You will need 5 upgrade licenses. Depending on which upgrade you do can run you from, in round figures, $500.00 (5x$99.00) to $1300.00 (5x$260.00).

If you have five -legitimate- licenses for W2K or above, then I think you're
OK to purchase an upgrade for each Vista licenses for each computer.

On the other hand... well, it all comes down to legitimate licenses, does it
not?

You won't "have to" do anything you don't *need* to.

I do have multiple computers too at home, but only one of them will run
Vista as main operating system. The others will continue running 98,
2000, AROS and Linux as well.

On some of your computers Vista may be too heavy to run smoothly. If you
spent 5x the cost of Home Premium-ready hardware, OS upgrade won't
incide much on the whole price.

On the other hand, I'll be very glad if Microsoft decided to promote a
"family discount" with a huge price cut for a second and a third Vista
licence, but as far as I know they didn't. Regards,
