Windows Vista - System restarts upon clicking the DOS prompt

J

JXC

I recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite laptop which included the Microsoft
Vista Home edition pre installed on the machine.
While atempting to run the IPconfig command from the DOS prompt, I find that
the system restarts upon clicking the DOS prompt. In other words, I simply
cannot get to the DOS prompt because the system automatically logs off and
logs in again.

Never came across this issue with earlier versions of Windows operating
system.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

How are you getting to the Dos prompt? Try pushing the windows key and
the R key at the same time and see if that is better.
