Locating the smaller version of Vista SP1

I am trying to get the famous or infamous SP1 for vista, I have restarted my
system 4 times and checked for updates around 10 and no SP1 or even a KB
match. the only one I can find is the 400mb or so that you can download from
the MS website, this to me is bad policy.

Has anyone been able to get the small one through Windows update and if so
how ?????????????????.

My SP1 download size was 65MB but I have always kept Vista up to date via
automatic updates via MS Update. It was a painless SP1 download but I have
to say I have not really noticed anything outstandingly different with SP1
installed?
