Hello
I have a very irritating problem, the mail is stuck in the deleted items
folder and no matter what I do I cannot delete those messages.
Very annoying and frustrating!

The WMUtil does not work on the deleted items folder so now what?
Anyone got a golden tip for me?

Use Windows Live Mail, no problems so far.

You should point out that it is beta software & not yet ready for primetime.
There are many bug reports being posted about it, even though you may be ok.
It also handles mail very differently to WM or OE & offers no customisation
of toolbars...a route MS seem intent on forcing upon us.
Personally I hate WLM. I though WM was bad til I tried WLM.

Download Thunderbird and use that. Works perfectly. I gave up on Windows
Mail. Missing good old Outlook Express. From now on it is Thunderbird.

Vera,

Do you have your system backed up to an external hard drive or elsewhere?

Here is what I did. I restored, Windows Mail only, to a date that Windows
Mail was working properly. Then I used Steve's utility to compact my
e-mail. Plus I compact my e-mail every time the dialog box appears.

Hopefully this helps.

As you rightly point out - only at beta stage. Can only say what I find, I
like it and so far no problems.

G.Parker,

I cannot delete emails from my delete folder, can some one out there help me with this issue? I don't want to re-install windows mail, an lose my important emails.

I'm having fewer problems with the beta WLM than I had with the
'finished' WM.

If you are not willing to just ignore them, the only way is to delete both
copies of the database (which does not contain the messages, but only
references to them) and let WinMail rebuild it.
First close WinMail, then use Task Manager to make sure there are no
instances of it under applications or processes.
Then click Start | Search | Advanced Search
Check the box to include non-indexed, hidden and system files.
In the Name field type WindowsMail.MSMessageStore and click the Search
button.
It should show you two copies. Delete both of them and re-open WinMail.

For everyone that is having problems deleting emails from Windows mail; go to
http:// support.microsoft.com/kb/941090/en-us. And download the fix, choose
the 32 bit or 64 bit download and follow the instructions. After installing
the fix restart your computer and you will be able to delete emails from
Windows Mail in the delete box and from your inbox. When downloading the fix
save it to your desktop and then install the fix. If you have any problems,
let me know.
