windows vista is full of bugs

Why would it take 5 minutes to get network access after starting your
computer? when i installed vista back in march it would take sometimes 10
minutes for vista to finally allow me to connect to the internet thru dsl
after having my computer shut off overnight. then after a few weeks of that
it started acting right when i would start it after it being shut down. io
figure maybe it was configuring everything. now i've went maybe 5 days
without using this computer and it's acting like it needs to check
everything over again and i don't get internet access for about 5 minutes
when i 1st start my computer after it being shut down over night. they need
to hurry up with the 1st service pack. this is windows me 2.0

Do you have any mapped drives?

Would he not need network access before he could see any mapped drives?

lose my temper if it acts up. i did get an update late last night that might
help it. maybe microsoft just released something. it's starting up and
giving internet access right away now. thanks for everyones help.

That's irrelevent but no. Mapped drives still show up even
if they were unable to connect.

The point is that if he does have mapped drives and the
destination PC\Server is unavailable then he may experience
a delay, sometimes a quite significant one.
