Windows vista freezes when shuting down

When ever i press the shutdown button not the sleep button after a bit it
goes into logging off.. i thought it would turn it self off the first time i
did that .. when i went to sleep but then when i woke up like 10 hours after
i did it.. it was still on there logging off.. i just clean installed it with
windows vista installed 3 things i cant live with out .. world of warcraft
steam with most of the games and avasta.... becouse norton was not working ..
i tryed it but they said i needed to upgrade.. but anyways .. what do i do
instead of holding the power button down 4 secconds for a force shutoff?
