Windows Vista Faxing

After installing Vista my fax function has stopped working. I have tried to
find the solution and one was to click on all programs and go to "windows
scan and fax". The problem with that is that on my computer there is no
Windows scan and fax function. Any suggestions on how to find the windows
scan and fax function?

Do you have Vista Home Basic or Home Premium?
If so, you don't have Scan & Fax. It is only in the Ultimate or Business
versions.

Search this forum, as this has been a hot topic.

Windows Fax and Scan is only available in the Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions of Windows Vista.

You could upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate Edition or purchase
a third-party fax program that's Vista compatible.

Actually You just made my life a lot easier...
My next "upgrade" will be to F-disk my hard drive
remove vista and return to XP

Vista is a quantum step backwards from what I had with XP
and I'm not going to loose more functions so you can have more proffit
(forcing a a new product with less functionality on us then expecting us to
shell out $ for ms office all over again?)

My next upgrade will probably be Linux
You've breached my trust....
your gone

As you've learned you should have bought Vista Ultimate to keep the
functionality you had with XP. I can also warn you that it is apparently not
possible to upgrade to Vista Ultimate without reformatting the hard disk. At
least no one at Dell knows how to do it. Microsoft will sell an "upgrade"
disk and claims that it can be used to convert to Ultimate but in fact it
cannot be made to work without wiping the hard drive.

That's the spirit! Check out ubuntu! Free & better! I've been dual booting
ubuntu and windows xp for a couple of years now. I mostly use ubuntu. I'm
still only 15, so go figure how easy it is.

Well this really blows, I guess I will use my technet version until MS gets
this worked out.

What is the best third party fa software to use with Vista? I just upgraded
and previously used BVRP software.

As for me I am just so gutted, after a complete rebuild of my computer to use
Vista Home premium and loose many of the advantages of XP Pro is such a
dissopointment. I miss my scanning of all my mail and storing it on HD nice
and tidy.

A cruise liner I was on a few years ago had just undergone a $4M refit
of the stage show area and we got on a tour of it -- up in the control
room was one Amiga running everything!

All the major scanner makers have Vista drivers now I believe. I have an
Epson and they had it up on the website within a few months. I've got Vista
Prem doin' stuf I could never manage all at once with Xp.

I wonder what he is using a fax to do when scanners and email are way more
economical.

Amiga's running lights on a boat? big deal.

Atari ST lead the MIDI revolution ;) lol

Unfortunately for us por users, Microsoft has decided to eliminate the basic
fax program from Vista. You can get it by upgrading to Vista Ultimate.
Upgrading to Vista results in extra income for Microsoft for all of us
dummies who thought Vista would be better. Think again.
