Windows Update

My OS is Windows XP SP2 (Hebrew Version).
When I have Automatic Windows Update turned on, I have updated Microsoft
..NET Framework, 2.0 KB917283, but the update did not appear at the Control
Panel/ Add/Remove programs (Updates turned on).
When I restart the computer the same update request appeared .
I have tried to update via the Windows Update using IE 6, I was informed
that the update was successful, but again there was no mention at the
Control Panel/ Add/Remove programs (Updates turned on). Deleting the
Internet files from the Internet Properties did not help. I have tried to
delete from my startup option, the Robocop , the Windows Defender programs,
but to no avail. I am using Norton Antivirus 6 with the Norton Protection
Center, and Windows XP Firewall.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Go to the Windows Update site and check your Update History to see if there's
a problem and run the scanner again. Note that you need to have Net Framework
1 and updates for 1 installed to install NF2 and its update--make sure you
have the new update for NF2. You might also have a problem with Windows
Genuine Advantage updates. Some users find that their valid installations
don't pass the check.
