Tom

I have "Windows Updates" set to "Automatic" with a
starting time of 8:A.M. Today, 16 Aug. 2004, is the date
when SP2 is supposed to start automatically downloading.
My starting time has come and gone, and as far as I can
tell SP2 is not downloading to my machine. If and when
it starts, how can I tell it's downloading? And, if it's
not going to download on the 16th of Aug., when? Can
someone please tell me, or should I take my 'puter
off "Automatic" and go back to the old fashion way of
checking and downloading updates. Thanks.

SP2 may have been delayed from the time you heard it was supposed to be
released to Windows Updates. You can run WU manually to check and see if
it is available. SP2 will not automatically install if you are logged on
as a limited user, since it requires a license agreement.

When AU starts downloading files, there will be an icon in the tray next
to the clock. You have the option to pause/restart the downloading.
After downloading, AU will popup and ask if you want to install. You can
continue working during install and if XP wants to reboot after, it will
gently (aggressively? your call) remind you to reboot.

Thanks---That's exactly what I wanted to know. Glad
there will be an icon in the tray so I'll know what's
happening. Thanks again.
