Windows Task Manager + Processes

"System Idle Process" "user = System" "cpu = 99"

that is the way it stands in Task Manager. consuming 99% cpu usage!!

What could this be?

Quite interesting and confusing : "If the computer is not running a
specific process, it runs System Idle Process....."
This "idle process" : Is it then the explanation for all the ratteling
noises from the harddisk?
But then, strange is that even when the computer is running other programs
it still has System Idle Process at 99%.

Well well. so long as it is not harmful to the pc, I'll accept that.

Sammy,

The system idle process never remains at 99%. It fluctuates depending upon
the processes and the cpu usage by other processes. The noise from your hard
disk may be due to the Indexing Service being ON or any other applications
using the hdd for i/o operations.

Greetings --

Break out a dictionary and look up the word "idle," sometime. The
"System Idle Process" metric is the amount/percentage of time that
your CPU has *nothing* to do. A reading of 98-99% is generally
considered a good thing, and readings above 90% are normal. Think of
it like a car's engine idling in your driveway before you place the
car in gear.

If you have rattling noises emanating from you PC, check the fans
and the physical drives. A CPU makes no sounds, as it has no moving
parts to cause vibrations.
