Windows task manager has too many running processes

Windows task manager has too many running processes and
slows down my computer. How can I find out which
processes I need and which ones I don't?

How many are you talking about. I have about 40 running right now... How
much RAM do you have? And have you checked for Spyware and viruses on you
PC?

Thank you for reply. I have around 40 too. Is it normal?
I don't think I have viruses, I have Norton antivirus on,
also I have adaware and spybot. Is it enough?

Nowadays it seems one cannot have enough protection! Are all you spyware and
virus definitions up-to-date? BTW, how much RAM do you have?

I think my anti-virus is up to date, I am not sure about
spyware, it is the free one.

As you are fully aware of, 128 megs of RAM with 40 processes running will
greatly slow your pc down. First you will need to download SpyBot and
Ad-Aware to check and remove and spyware processes running or residing on
your computer. Secondly, make sure your virus def. are up-to-date and run a
full scan on your pc. It may be a good idea to visit other AV site such as
trend.com and bitdefender.com and run web scans just to double check. After
you perform these jobs, see how you pc is running. If it is still not up to
par, consider adding more RAM. Also, post back and let me know. I can infor
you on what processes you can shut down on your pc.
