Windows system error (System restorer doesn't work)

Windows XP PRO
2 Hard Drives (4 partitions)

Yesterday I was uploading some songs onto my ipod until I accidentally
unplugged it from the computer. After unplugging it the computer restarted
unsuspectingly and I thought I just had to use system restore to go back to
the last check point that had everything working correctly. However, while
trying to navigate to system restore from my computer I noticed I was able to
click on any of my drives letters. When I clicked on the C:/ drive I got this
error message ("windows cannot find
recycler\s-1-9-51-100026136-100003891-100028679-3896.com"). Furthermore,
interestingly enough, I was able to access each drive using the address area
and selecting which ever drive I wanted from the drop down menu but in my
computer, I had no luck. I noticed also that everything appears to be fine on
the surface, I can still access the internet, msn mess. but certain programs
are not properly responding, I.e my unreal tournament game and any other
program that seems to be associated with the C:/ drive? I don't know if this
problem is common but I need some help. Man I should of focused on the lcd
screen of the ipod that said do not disconnect.

you might try
initiating a
check disk.

I ran check disk, said there were some errors (problems) that could be fix
using chkdsk/F in cmd prompt. I tried doing so but it said system is already
in use but chkdsk/F will run when I restart my computer. I then restarted the
computer and got a blue screen of death, error message code (0x000000A
(0x000000B0, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x8050EEF5).

ok,

then you will have
to the check disk from
the recovery/repair
console via a windows
setup cd.

in addition to check
disk I would also run
a fixboot and fixmbr
for added measure.

not sure if I agree with
your assumption, since
the o.p. did not elude to
the symptoms similar to
those here:

-------------

perhaps, the problem is
that most people assume
their systems are infected
when in fact system instability
can be caused by many things
other than malware.

perhaps, another problem is
that utilizing an obscure anti
viral to fight an assumed infection,
may be malware in disguised
that is spreading the infection.

but never the less, your suggestion
was interesting.
