Windows Stop Errors

HSV Guy

Hi People,

I took my computer into a computer place to get it serviced. fans cleaned of
all the dust and made sure nothing was lose etc etc.

When i went into collect it the guy told me he thought my computer was
running a bit hot and went into bois to check it out. Since this is a
overclocking computer of course it was going to run hotter than normal. But
well within acceptable standards. He also said he changed all the settings
back to normal, which really pissed me off since he had no business starting
me comp up or even going into my bois settings.

Since ive had it home..i had a windows stop error within the 1st five
minutes. it came up with win32.sks and a a serries of numbers. I reset and
went into bois to load the optimized configeration. Ive recieved two more
stop errors since then.

I have a feeling hes done more than what hes told me he's done. But there's
no way to prove it.

Can some one please tell me how to fix this windows stop error thats
occuring

Thanks in advance

Hi

Could you please post the Stop Code(s)? With those, your problem could be
isolated.

No overclocking has acceptable standards, and it may be coincidental that
the problems occurred after a trip to the shop. The acceptable standard is
to stay within the specifications of the cpu and bus speed. I agree that if
the vendor was not asked to start the system, but to just clean out the
interior he should not have. However, there are inherent dangers in
overclocking including early retirement of components, regardless of how
careful you are.

As Will stated, the stop error codes may point out where the problem lies.

My cpu is rated at 85 degrees thats C.
It was only at 65 under heavy load from prime 95.

Since it hardly ever reached 65 to me i consider that acceptable.

Thanks for your inout tho.
I haven't written the stop code down when it came up...but is there a way to
find it through event viewer or do i have to wait for it again to pop up and
post back later with it?

Cheers

Hi,

Sometimes they show in event viewer as BCCode's, so that is what you may
want to look for. If the failure causes the system to lock, there will be no
record of the event, so there will be nothing in event viewer.

Temperature rating is not the way you should judge a processor. That is a
heat range, and given enough cooling I can keep any processor within it.
That doesn't mean you're not causing other damage by pushing components
beyond their rated speed.
