Windows Shutdown screen changed -- how to change it back

Greetings:

I am writing this on behalf of a friend who does not have internet
access. Please forgive me if the information is incomplete.....but
assistance very much is appreciated.

In short: something has happened such that her shutdown screen in XP
has changed from the screen with typical "three choice
buttons" (standby, turn-off, restart) to a mini-window with some sort
of drop down menu.

She is not very computer literate and SWEARS she did "nothing" to
cause the change.....

Any suggestions for what to look for to create this --or what to
setting to adjust to get her back to the original method of shutting
down-- is appreciated!!

Thank you!!

More than likely her logon method ahs changed too.

This can happen if a USB Wireless adapter is/was installed.

If so use system restore to go back a day before the adapter was installed
and everything should be back to normal and the wireless adapter should
still work.

Tell your friend to go to Control Panel and double click the User Accounts
icon.
This should launch the User Accounts applet.
In User Accounts, have your friend click on "Change the way users log on or
off".
On the next page, make sure that "Use the Welcome screen" is checked. "Use
Fast User Switching" can be checked if your friend wants to enable that
option.
Click on the Apply Options button.

Good luck

Be sure she's not using "Classic" menus.
