Windows Setup

I have a major problem, my monitor fried, so I replaced it with another one,
and when I tried to get back on windows sent me to a screen that allows the
options for:

safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command propmpt

last known good configuration

start windows normally

But when I am there, the computer crashes and freezes if I try to select
start windows normally, so I tried to select the 4th option, which sends me
to a black screen, then I tried to enter in safe mode, which just listed a
bunch of files, and does not go anywhere. Then i tried to reinstall the
windows XP, which goes to the first blue screen with the setup at the top,
but then nothing happens after that, there are no option, it just freezes at
this point.

Is there anyway for me to get into my computer???

I am using Windows XP professional

If you run an XP "Upgrade"setup, from the original, or "Gold" version of the setup CD, and you have SP2 installed, it will go into a
setup loop, and you will lose your install. Uninstall SP2, BEFORE you do a Upgrade setup from CD (that lacks sp2 on it.)

Manually uninstall SP 2 from Recovery Console.

At this point I can not get into my original windows at all, when I choose
the safe mode option it gives me a list of things like:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\sr.sys
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\Ntfs.sys
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\NDIS.sys
... and so on, there is a large list of these.

So there is no way for me to get into windows and there is no way for me to
run the reinstall option from the original windows CD.

If you run an XP "Upgrade"setup, from the original, or "Gold" version of the setup CD, and you have SP2 installed, it will go into a

I have the same problem, only different. I got into that loop using my
slipstream CD that has SP2 on it already. The CD has worked in the
past, but when I run "Update (Recommended)", warnings of missing files
come up. It completes normally other than that, but on the first
re-boot, I'm in that loop.

To recover, I use the same CD to do a clean install, reformatting my
C:\ partition. This works flawlessly, leaving me to think my CD is
good. Then I put in my True Image rescue CD and restore my original
image.

Since there was nothing really wrong in the first place, I don't
really need to run setup . . . yet. But at some point in the future, I
may.

Would you recommend I uninstall SP2 & try my original CD?
