Windows Server 2003 Embedded ...

Hello,

We made a custom internet gateway using Windows Server 2003 + ISA
Server 2006.
We would like to put it into a Single Board Computer (SBC), with low
disk (flash) and memory availability.

I read that Window Server Embedded was just a way to licence Windows
Server, so without the modularity available in XPe.
Can anybody confirm this ?

Do anybody have already tried to integrate Windows Server in a SBC
(like thouse we can find on broadband routers running Linux) ? Which
hardware do you use ?

I realy want to find a SBC able to run Windows Server, not a small
foam factor PC. I do not want hard drive or video capabilities ...
Just a CPU, some flash memory, some RAM, and 2 network interface (like
any "linux capable" SBC)...

Thanks for your answers,

Guillaume

Hello Guillaume

Yes, Embedded Server are the same as the standard servers
beside the license terms.
So there is no modular concept like in XP Embedded.
Server 2003 and ISA 2006 runns very good on a SBC.
Choose a good CPU performance and use at least 1 GB of RAM.

As a Embedded OEM with a signed CLA, you can request the server
OPKs from your Embedded Distributor. (Hopefully AVNET... :))
