Ever since I installed the latest ZoneAlarm Pro update a few days ago, my
computer freezes after being inactive for a while. I don't know how long,
but it's when I've been gone for several hours or overnight. I have a dark
screen and a cursor that moves, but nothing else on the screen. I have to
unplug the computer and restart it. In the Event Viewer, I find "The
Windows Security Center Service was unable to establish event queries with
WMI to monitor third party AntiVirus and Firewall."
WMI is set to Automatic and is started
Security Center is set to Automatic and is started
Hibernation is off
Power scheme is "home computer."
Turn monitor off after one hour
Turn hard drive off: never
Stanby: never
Remote Procedure Call is one of the dependencies under Security Center and
is set to Manual (and was before the ZA update)--could it have anything to
do with it?
I have exchanged emails with ZoneAlarm and have been instructed to install
the update that caused the problem in order to correct it. I did uninstall
and reinstall--clean with all the extra file deletions, etc., that they tell
you to do. The problem persists. The last email from them said it was to
do with my power settings, but I hadn't changed anything from before the
update.
