Windows products won't load

HELP! My PC is a couple years old, but kept current.
Recently, I have not been able to install or uninstall any
Microsoft based software (XP, Frontpage, Tweakiu, etc).
The install will begin, but hangs about 1/2 way through
and will stay that way all night if I let it. I finally
got FrontPage loaded by disabling EVERYTHING in msconfig &
rebooting. Unfortunately after doing that I had to re-
activate Windows XP (which would only work by phone).
Other types of software load fine. The issue is only with
Microsoft. Can anyone help?

just what does your hardware look like....ie, free space...memory,
etc.....allyou gave so far is NOTHING...
