Windows Product Activiation

Here is one I've not seen. Just tried to upgrade my RAM, and was having some
problems with 1 of the RAM slots. Finally got computer working to my
satisfaction. As I progressed through this, while rebooting, I noted a
message come up that "It has been some time since you've activated Windows,
and some hardware changes have taken place> Would you like to re-active your
copy of Windows now? (or a similar statement to this) anyway, I followed the
on-line activation and all appeared to be good. UNTIL I reboot, then it
starts the whole process over... Any suggestions??
Thanks in advance

That happened to me, too. Four times for disabling and enabling a NIC.
The fourth time stuck.

Reboot your computer into "Safe Mode".
While in Safe Mode, rename the wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files located in the
\Windows\system32 folder.

This will force activation on the following boot,
but should remove the message that you are already activated message.
Sometimes if these files get corrupted, they can cause this type of problem.

Ok, it worked... Did have to phone in and get an activation that way. Person
I spoke to said after 1st activation you MUST do it over the phone... What a
silly bunch of numbers, for a product I paid for, to work. This is basically
ridiculous just to keep people honest...

Not true. XP made me activate four times the other day and all four went
through on line. All for trying to fix my NIC be installing the drivers
and trying others. XP waited for me to fix it before asking me to
activate four times for four reboots. Just the kind of thing I need when
something else is driving me nuts.

My feelings exactly.
