Yup, as I discovered when trying that method. You might like to try this
instead. Create a pair of reg files:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\image\ShellEx\ContextMenuHand
lers\ShellImagePreview]
@="{e84fda7c-1d6a-45f6-b725-cb260c236066}"
This one disables P&F preview. The minus sign deletes the key following
it.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\image\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandl
ers\ShellImagePreview]
@="{e84fda7c-1d6a-45f6-b725-cb260c236066}"
This one restores it. Ignore what I've written below unless you want to
regularly disable & restore this setting.
I have shortcuts to these 2 files on my desktop so I can toggle P&F
Viewer on or off as required. Without modification, you will be prompted
twice but you can edit the shortcut so that the reg file gets merged
silently so clicking on the shortcut will be all that's needed. David
Candy kindly revealed the method:
regedit /s c:\myregfile.reg in the target box of the shortcut ([regedit]
[/switch] [full regfile path].
I haven't tried this method of getting it to run silently because I've
created a new file type called "regs" (myregfile.regs) which is
identical to "reg" but has regedit /s so that any time I run a reg file
with the "regs" extension, I don't get prompted. Editing the reg file
global properties itself to run silently is too dangerous. Post back if
you want clarification.
