Windows Picture & Fax Viewer

Trying to help a friend make pictures smaller. I don't use Windows Picture
& Fax Viewer myself; I prefer Picture Manager. What I don't know, is if
P.M. only comes with MS Office? If that's the case, my friend doesn't have
Office; and will HAVE to use Picture & Fax Viewer. How can he make pictures
smaller in that? I'm not familiar with how it works, and I don't want to
risk opening it myself in my computer (if I can even find it) because I have
my pics all set to open in P.M. and I don't want to change that!

PM comes with Office 2003.

Picture and Fax Viewer has no editing ability - by default, its Edir
function njust opens the file in MSPaint where you can - clumsily resize
a file.

A better solution is either

* the Image Resizer Powertoy:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

* Picasa (using its Export function)free software from Google:

Does Picasa only work with digital photos? This person has varied photos
which he has scanned into his computer.

Once they have been scanned they ARE now digital.

Oh, OK, wasn't aware of the right terminology <S> I was thinking of photos
taken with a digital camera. Thanks.

An image taken with a digital camera, one scanned from an image taken with a
film camera, one scanned form a handpainted piece of paper, and one created
iwth a software painting tool are all identical. They are all digital images
and can't be told apart.

As I had said, I have/use Picture Manager, but I downloaded picasa on my
husband's (Win 98) computer so I could work with it to help my other friend.
I downloaded, and installed it, but it won't open! Any suggestions?

P.S. I found out I had to change the resolution and the color quality. And
then I found out you can't resize a picture yourself; it will apparently
resize it to send by e-mail, BUT it only gives 3 e-mail options.

Re: the color quality needing changing; had to do that earlier this evening
in order for TurboTax to open! Never ran into that before with ANY
program.

As I said before, the EXPORT function will resize images, and there
should be a big EXPORT button near the bottom of your screen.

I can't imagine what the color quality of an image has to do with
TurboTax being able to open or not. There seems to be a big ....... that
needs to be filled in.

the current version of picasa requires either windows 2000 or xp .
version for windows 98 or me is available on the hardwar
requirements page at
http://picasa.google.com/features/requirements.htm

you can select any size print from wallet to full page using the prin
layout prior to printing . As Mike said you can also adjust the siz
using export to folder
