Windows newsgroup website sucks

What's the point of having 522 pages of newgroup messages
when I can only access the first two pages? It's only
been a few days and already my previously posted message
is gone! If only 5% of the users can expect to get
replies to their questions, what's the point?

I'm not sure how many other users access the website; it's, in my opinion, kinda cludgy. I would suggest you use a newgroup reader, such as Outlook Express. In that way (as long as "delete messages older than x days" is not checked or at least set to something you can deal with), you can have all messages easily accesible in a mail-readable format.

I too have been experiencing the frustration of wanting
access to these newsgroups but only being able to see the
first page (this morning I could see two - wow!). This
could be an excellent public resource were it not for the
glitchy interface.

I have read your reply from T Talmage, and I don't know
about you but frankly I'd prefer NOT to ruin my desktop by
setting up a dozen complex newsgroup links in my already-
overcrowded email client! I have tried it before and it
was a total mess after a few weeks with unsynchronised
messages flying all over the place.

Maybe it's just my peculiar desire for a provided public
service such as the MS community newsgroups to function as
expected that has made me so demanding and grouchy.

If I find a better way JPC, I'll be sure to let you know!

Jim.

You can use Google Groups Advanced Search, with relevant criteria, to easily find
specific threads. For example, if I enter your email address in the "Return only
messages where the author is" box and click "Google Search" 3 hits are returned. The
results page includes a link you can use to "View Thread".

Keep in mind that, according to the Google Help Page: "There may be a delay of up to
12 hours between articles being posted to a news server and those articles being
searchable within Google's newsgroup search." Also, although Google
does archive microsoft.public.win2000.applications it does not archive all microsoft
newsgroups.
