Windows msgr *AND* MSN msgr FREEZE

M

When i just sign in, MSN messenger freezes and the "CPU
usage history" in task manager goes to 100% until i end
messenger process... there is no use of reinstalling
messenger the same prob goes and goes again.....please if
this kind of problem has occured with someone before or
if anybody knows the solution HELP!!

The problem started with Windows Messenger 4.7 being a
CPU hog, and having to stop it manually all the time. So
I uninstalled it using the run command posted, and
downloaded MSN Messenger 6.1. And while with Windows
Messenger 4.7 at least I was able to have some
functionality (although it would run real slow and cause
all programs to do the same), MSN Messenger 6.1.027
freezes--immediately after I log in (everything is fine
with it until it logs into the .net account)

I've uninstalled MSN messenger and reinstalled Windows
Messenger 4.7, but it's still a complete CPU hog and have
to terminate it every time or I can't work in Outlook.

I have the latest version of DirectX.

Help--this has been going on for a year, and with a new
job I can no longer just kill Messenger!!
