Windows Movie Maker Problem

I used Movie Maker on my computer at work and made a slide show with music
for my daughter. It looks great, however I burned a CD and then took it home
to play it on my home computer. The picutres will not come up, every place
that there should be a picture there are BIG RED X'S. I finally found where
it said that there is a codec not installed on my computer............. I
updated my windows media player at home to version 10, and I still get the
codec message. I have downloaded a codec installation package and it still
does not work. Cany anyone help me. This is a gift for my daughter and I
took it to a professional (??) to get my CD burned to a DVD so she can play
it on a TV and he get's the same RED X's so he can't burn it to a DVD. I
e-mailed it to her and she can play it, but only on winodws media player in a
very small screen, if she enlarges it, it is blurry. I would appreciate any
help on knowing what codec I would need to install. I have windows XP
service pack 2, and windows media player version 10. Thanks!

Are you using the .mswmm project file? Or did
you save it as a movie in the .wmv or .avi format?

The project file would show the Red Xs because
it does not include the source files...they are still
in their original location on the computer the project
was created on.

Here's some info:

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next / Next.
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

You are a lifesaver, (it kept saying I was missing a codec and needed to
install one, which was wrong) I evidently had saved my project as msnmm as
you said, and when I saved it as wmv and took it home it played. Thanks a
million - Carol
