Windows Movie Maker help!

Does anyone know what this error message means? It came up when I tried to
import a video file into Windows Movie Maker. Or perhaps an alternative
program to Windows Movie Maker in which I can edit video?

I:\'07_09_28_01\M2U00269.MPG could not be imported. An interface has too
many methods to fire events from

it means Movie Maker can't handle the MPEG-2 file and you need to convert it
to another file before importing... see my website's Import Movie Source
Files > Video > MPEG page

my computer does the same when i try to add music. its a MP3 file , but movie
maker says it will work with MP3 files, but i get the same error
