Windows Movie Maker/Analog/VCR transfer

I have a Sony Vaio with a click to DVD feature that accepts both digital and
analog recordings. I tried using the WMM and it accepts my digital media
but doesn't recognize my analog VCR. I get the "Video Capture Device was not
detected" I followed all the instructions and help information. There's
supposed to be a drop down when you click on "Capture from a vidio device"
and I never get that. I have all the most recent updates and I've done
everything I can think of. The VCR is connected with RCA jacks which is the
same connection used for the click to DVD feature. Would appreciate some
direction. Thanks.

Are you connecting via your graphics card? If not how? If yes, MM does not
tend to support this mode of capture.

I had the same problem. The solution for me was: 1) Connect VCR properly
(using RCA jacks in back of VAIO). 2) Open Click to DVD - in capture video
there is a drop down box for VIDEO INPUT. Use "Composite video 1". 3)
IMPORTANT: WAIT 5 MINTUES. 4) Then click Capture. It worked for me after
lots of frustration. And finally help from techies at Best Buy.
I see this was written two months ago, but tried to help anyway. Good luck.

Thanks for the key phrase "WAIT 5 MINUTES"! It works and impatient me may
have never discovered this odd secret. I'm pleased!!!

IT worked!!! Thanks a lot. Often I'm impatient and I don't think that I would
of ever thought to wait a while. Many thanks.
