Windows Messenger won't go away...

My windows messenger doesn't seem to go away. I have MSN
Messenger but it seems that windows messenger is always
running in the background yet i haven't even run the
program yet. Allow program to run in background and run
program at start up are unchecked, but i can still see the
program in windows task manager. This is causing trouble
because people in my contact list can still msg me through
windows messenger, yet i haven't even signed into it yet,
and i mainly use msn messenger. So if anyone could help me
solve this problem, i will thank you greatly!

That makes two of us with the same problem. Mine's been
like that since the last two critical updates. I shut it
off in Task Manager and it comes back in about 1-2
minutes. If I launch Neverwinter Nights and it reloads,
my 'puter locks up. Tried resetting the priority of
msmsgs.exe and it didn't help. No known ad/spyware or
viruses onboard at this time.

Make that three of us!!

I use MSN Messenger too and sometimes, you just don't want people to know that you're on-line, so I don't sign into MSN, but Windows Messenger ALWAYS seems to be running and I always get caught out.

I tried removing the components from Windows and I've tried disabling Windows Messenger, but it just don't work

If anyone can come up with an answer, I too would be grateful
