Hi Jonathan

using Windows XP & XP firewall windows messenger Ver
4.7.2009 to other user on XP windows messenger Ver
4.7.2009

i can not send/receive file transfer..I except same then
my connection drops out every time.
have looked through newsgroup etc: but am more confused
now..do i need to config a port ? if so how, and does the
other user sending file have to as well.
much appreciate any help.

Greetings Ian,

You might try turning off the built-in Internet Connection Firewall entirely, however before
you do this, please update your PC with the latest patches from WindowsUpdate:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
(and reboot after completing them).

To turn off the Internet Connection Firewall, -- click Start, then click the Control Panel.
If you're in category view click Network and Internet connections then click Network
Connections. Right click your network/internet connection, then click Properties. Click the
Advanced Tab, and verify that the Internet Connection Firewall is unchecked.

Then try again.
