Windows Messenger starts automatically

I have a problem which I haven't been able to solve.
Every time I start my computer the process named
msmsgs.exe starts. Since I use MSN Messenger (under
Windows XP home edition) I have for MSN Messenger checked
to log me in automatically. When I start MSN Messenger I
get a message saying that I have been logged out
from .NET Messenger Service since I was logged in
somewhere else. Sometimes when I start my computer,
without logging in to a Messenger program, I get messages
from my Windows/MSN messenger contacts.

I have done some research and it seems like that from the
moment I start Internet Explorer I also get automatically
logged in to Windows Messenger without the program
visibly starting! I do not want to remove Windows
Messenger from my computer but I don't want the process
to start automatically when Windows starts. I have looked
in to Tools/Options/Preferences but I don't have the
checkbox where you can set the program to not start
automatically when Windows starts. My version of Windows
Messenger is 4.7.

Anyone who can help me with this small but very annoying
problem? One workaround is to uncheck in MSN not to be
logged in automatically but then I must enter my address
and password every time I want to start MSN Messenger.

Very, very grateful for any help!!!

Log in as Administrator on the machine that is doing it.
Reload Instant Messenger. It should save users
information within IM. Then go to Tools Options and the
start up box will be there so you can uncheck it.

I have that problem too, all you have to do is to remove
windows messenger. to do that, go to control panel, add
or remove programs, add or remove windows components,
then uncheck the windows messenger box. click ok and your
done! if u have norton anti virus installed, open it,
click options and uncheck windows messenger in instant
messeging.
