I was wondering how do I get Windows Messenger service to work on Win2000
pro and Advance server too.
When I do the following test this is what happens. I dont understand what
is the message alias and how can my local host be busy. If anyone knows
please respond to thread Thanks.

H:\>net send 127.0.0.1 hi
An error occurred while sending a message to 127.0.0.1.

The message alias could not be found on the network.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2273.

H:\>net helpmsg 2273

The message alias could not be found on the network.

EXPLANATION

This message alias could not be located.

ACTION

Check the spelling of the message alias. If it is correct, then the computer
that is to receive your message may be busy. Try sending the message again
later.

****Yes messenging service is on. I did the same test only this time
typing the actual lan address from the server to the workstation and back
too and it works that way. I just wonder why it wont work to localhost?

Net send only works with netbios names (not TCP/IP, even if you use
"localhost" - unless you have your 127.0.0.1 localhost entered in your
lmhosts file).
