Windows messenger log on automatically without any notice

Chris

HI, i am currently using windows XP. I found there's a
problem with the windows messenger. How can I stop the
windows messanger from logging onto the network itself? I
try so many methods but without any success. Everytime I
restart or turn on my computer, windows messenger will log
onto the network itself without any notice and the worst
thing is I can't even locate the exe. file nor there's any
icon in the system tray and log off from the network. I
know if I do not put my profile into my user account, then
this problem will be solved. But in fact I want to keep
the account profile in the computer so when I use MSN
messenger 6, I will be able to just click a button and log
onto the network instantly. I have also tried to uncheck
the windows messenger from the windows component list and
this didn't help to solve the problem. All the options
from the windows messenger is already unchecked even the
one that's enabling it to run in the background. Can you
please kindly help me to solve this problem because I am
getting really frustrated about this problem. Somtimes I
do not want to log onto the "messenger" network due to
work but windows messenger just keep doin so without any
notice and I can't even log it off ( I tried to log on to
MSN messenger 6 in order to cut the connection of windows
messenger and then log off my MSN messenger 6 too to
completely log off from the messenger network. But it
turns out that windows messenger will re-log on to the
network few minutes later without notice again.) Please
help me to find a solution to solve this problem and I
will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Hey
I am having the very same problem. No body knows how to
fix it. I can uninstall it. Just go to control panel.
Then to ad remove programs and from they're to add or
remove windows components. Follow directions for
uninstall. I think that might work???? Good luck. I
want to use regular msn also.

Greetings Ricky,

You can stop Windows Messenger from automatically signing in by clicking the Start Button,
then click the Control Panel. Then, click User Accounts in the Control Panel. Select your
account name, and then on the left side of the screen, under Related Tasks, click 'Manage my
Network Passwords'. In the window that opens, click the Passport.Net\* (Passport) entry and
click 'Remove'.
