Windows Messenger inside IE's Manage Add-Ons

I have a PC running XP Home SP2. IE 6 SP2 is my main web browser. If
I click on Tools, Manage Add-ons, there is a listing of enabled add-ons
currently running on Internet Explorer. One is Windows Messenger. AFAIK, I
don't use Windows Messenger for anything, and have no desire to use it. So
is there any reason why it shouldn't be disabled? The other add-ons I plan
to leave alone.
